TIP OF THE MONTH

Test your walls to find out what type of paint is already there:  Soak paper towel or cotton ball with nail polish remover containing acetone (acetone can be purchased from the pharmacy/hardware/paint store) and wipe a small area of the wall.  If there is paint on the paper/cotton, then you have latex paint on your walls.  If no paint shows on the paper/cotton, then your walls are covered with oil/alkyd paint.

How can you paint latex over oil base paint?

A coat of oil base flat primer on interior or exterior surfaces should be applied. Also, you can sand and rough up the surface. This will aid adhesion of the latex.
